Bereavement Support & Dealing with Grief

Finding the support you need

The death of a loved one can be a very distressing time, and while we are here to help you through the arrangements for the funeral, we know that it is often the time after the funeral that is the most difficult.

Bereavement can be a terribly distressing event and it affects each of us in different ways.

There are no rules about how long each phase of grief should last and everyone’s experience is unique to them. Don’t be too harsh on yourself and take one day at a time.

Some of the emotions you may feel could surprise you and confusion in your thoughts and feelings are commonplace. Accepting help often allows others to share some of the burdens you are facing and may help them to feel ‘useful’ by doing practical things that you may struggle with. It is quite natural to feel sadness but you may also find that it is still possible to smile and even laugh – that’s fine too.

There are a number of bereavement counselling and support groups available to go to should you feel you need help. Below is a list of various groups both local and national, but if you’d like to talk to us about the most appropriate one for you, please call us on 01765 310310.
